Hello! Full of illusions and expectations, I’d like to introduce myself in this website: I am a very passionate vocational illustrator, a career to which I’m fully committed and at the same time share with being a mum and wife –to which I’d like to dedicate more time.
I started painting and drawing since I was young in Caracas when I became acquainted with the secrets, mysteries and hidden aspects of the trade. During my very fulfilling teenage years I studied graphic design and illustration in Caracas and before completing my studies I started working in different advertising and marketing companies where I gained a wealth of experience which helped me face future and more challenging trials. 
Upon finishing my studies I continued working in the advertising business as Director of Art.
Due to a change in family circumstances I fled to another part of the world…NEW ZEALAND!!!, a beautiful country full of magic and charm that welcomed me with open arms. During my 10 year stay in Auckland, and having being granted New Zealand citizenship, I took a career sabbatical to dedicate in full to my family, yet I never stopped learning new techniques and crafts such as Anglo-Saxon patchwork and mohair teddy bears.
All my design ideas were captured in the making of quilts, from which I also discovered the children’s design aspect. Since then, I focused on that small world of infinite ideas, the children’s universe.
In New Zealand on 2002 I participated in a poster art design contest in Devonport (Auckland), which resulted in me winning the first prize.
Once again and due to unforeseen circumstances I had to pack my bags and fly to the opposite part of the world to finally land in Spain!, specifically the Canary Islands in Tenerife. The cultural society of the Canary Islands offered me great support and protection as no other had ever done, so I resumed my career as designer and illustrator specialising in children’s work in full.
During my career I held many painting and craft expositions in various Canary cities, and original products designed by me, some totally hand-made, are exposed in a number of Tenerife establishments.
I also illustrated a number of children’s books for the editorial Ideas-Aguere. I live by the hope that all my efforts and dedicated work will bring a magic opportunity to expand my work to many more places in the world.
I have also participated in a number of Spanish and international contests, such as Bologna 2012, all of which makes me feel that I’m infiltrating myself, little by little, in the illustration world.
After 6 wonderful years living in the lucky islands I moved close to Madrid, by the river Henares, to Alcala de Henares -a world heritage city, searching for the world-famous and strongly-desired cervantine inspiration.  
I lived in Alcala for over 4 years focusing in children’s literature illustrations, working both as a freelance and for worldwide editorials while I soaked myself with the city’s character, a fantastic and very welcoming place rich in culture where all the streets and people enact Cervantes characters.
My desire to spread the Spanish language led to me complete an intensive course of teacher of Spanish as a foreign language at the International House Madrid with the purpose to teach non-Spanish speaking children.
I participated in local expositions and also entered the national competition of stamps “Disello” which is held annually by the National Post and Telegraph Office Society of Spain. This experience and living in this city left a permanent memory which is inked in my work.
Once again, as a migrating bird which always goes back to her nest, I returned to Auckland, New Zealand where I began a new stage in my life since July 2017, a city I fell in love with and that filled my life with amazing memories that move me to tears every time I reminiscence.
After a brief period of re-adaptation, my children’s illustrations now include teaching and spreading the Spanish culture and literature that I learned to love and understand while reading the foremost figure of the Spanish language –Don Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra. As a logical consequence, I named my small teaching school “Little Cervantes” with the renowned writer’s face depicted in the logo, while at the same time paying homage to this universal artist and his place of birth –Alcala de Henares. 
The school allows me to capture the attention of my fellow kiwi citizens, and most importantly children, to learn, love and wish to speak the third most spoken language in the world. This is my humble contribution to spread this beautiful language.
Some of my illustrations have been nominated and some won awards, while the book “MY BOOK OF NURSERY RHYMES”, featuring my illustrations, has been ranked among the best 10 in the word in 2017

However, I humbly wish continue being able to spread, even more if possible, the wonderful features that the children’s world has to offer and being able to find my small place among children’s illustrators.

Lastly, it is my wish that when you visit this website you will find an illustrator full of ideas and a creator of children’s literature characters, who’s eager for the reader, and most importantly children, to find more happiness in my work.

¡Hola!   Me presento en esta página web llena de ilusión y con la idea de daros a conocer a una ilustradora vocacional, entregada absolutamente a su trabajo que comparte con su faceta de madre y esposa a los que dedica a veces, no demasiado tiempo.

Desde la infancia allá en Caracas ya dirigía todo mi tiempo y esfuerzo en pintar y conocer todos los entresijos del oficio. Después de una adolescencia muy feliz estudié diseño gráfico e ilustración en Caracas y antes de finalizar los estudios empecé a trabajar en varias empresas de publicidad y marketing donde adquirí la experiencia necesaria para afrontar nuevos y más altos retos. 

Al finalizar la carrera, continué trabajando en el campo de la publicidad con responsabilidades como Directora de Arte.

Como consecuencia de un contratiempo familiar, marché a la otra parte del mundo ¡¡ NEW ZEALAND !! un maravilloso país lleno de magia y encanto que me acogió con los brazos abiertos. Durante los 10 años que estuve residiendo en Auckland (adquirí la nacionalidad neozelandesa) hice un pequeño parón profesional para dedicarme al ámbito familiar, aunque no deje de aprender nuevas técnicas de diseño/ilustración y manualidades con diversos materiales que están muy implantadas en los países de influencia anglosajona como, por ejemplo el patchwork y los ositos de mohair.

Todas mis ideas de diseño se plasmaron en la realización de Quilts donde descubrí el aspecto infantil del diseño. Desde entonces mi esfuerzo principal está dirigido hacia ese pequeño mundo de inagotables ideas que es el universo infantil. En Nueva Zelanda participé en un concurso del diseño de un poster para el festival de arte en Devonport (Auckland) en el año 2002, resultando ganadora del primer premio.

De nuevo y por razones imprevistas tuve que hacer las maletas y dar otra vuelta al mundo y fui a parar a las antípodas de Nueva Zelanda ¡¡ ESPAÑA !! y concretamente a las Islas Canarias, Tenerife. La sociedad cultural canaria me arropó y apoyó como en ningún otro sitio y retomé mi carrera como diseñadora e ilustradora dedicándome de lleno al mundo infantil.

Realicé muchas exposiciones de pintura y manualidades en varias ciudades del archipiélago, además productos originales diseñados por mí se exponen en varios establecimientos de Tenerife, algunos de ellos totalmente hechos a mano.

Ilustré varios libros infantiles que fueron publicados por la editorial “Ideas – Aguere” de Tenerife.

Con no poco esfuerzo y trabajo, aún vivo esperando esa oportunidad mágica que me abra la puerta para que mi trabajo llegue a muchos más lugares del mundo. Me he presentado en varios concursos de España e internacionales como el de Bologna 2012 y poco a poco vuelvo a hacerme un huequito en el mundo de la ilustración.

Después de 6 años maravillosos en las islas afortunadas pegué el salto (como un hada inquieta) a la España peninsular, aterrizando cerquita de la ciudad de Madrid a las orillas del rio Henares en esa ciudad patrimonio de la Humanidad llamada Alcalá de Henares, buscando esa inspiración cervantina de la que tanto había oído hablar y por tanto, anhelaba.

En la ciudad complutense estuve 4 años y medio en los cuales me focalicé en la ilustración de cuentos infantiles, trabajando para particulares y editoriales de todo el mundo y empapándome de esa ciudad fantástica, acogedora donde las haya, llena de vida y cultura por todas sus calles y rincones. Esas mismas calles y gentes que parecen estar sacadas de los maravillosos libros cervantinos.

Inquieta por un mejor aprendizaje del idioma español, hice un curso intensivo de formación de profesor especialista en la enseñanza del español como Lengua Extranjera en el Centro “International House Madrid” con el fin de poder difundirlo a niños de habla no hispana.

Participé en varias exposiciones locales y en el concurso nacional de diseños de sellos (DISELLO) que convoca anualmente la Sociedad Estatal de Correos y Telégrafos de España. Como recuerdo imborrable de mi estancia en esa ciudad ha quedado, como veréis más adelante, una huella permanente en mi obra.

Pero como ave migratoria que siempre vuelve a su nido ………………. aquí me encuentro nuevamente en Nueva Zelanda, iniciando una nueva etapa desde julio de 2017 en Auckland, ciudad a la que amo,considero como mi casa y de la que tengo tantísimos recuerdos que me hacen estremecer cada vez que rememoro alguno de ellos.

Después de un pequeño tiempo de readaptación a esta nueva etapa, actualmente compagino mis ilustraciones infantiles con la enseñanza y difusión de la cultura y lengua española, que aprendí a querer y comprender leyendo a su principal referente mundial que es Don Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra.

Como no podía ser de otra manera, mi pequeña escuela de enseñanza la he llamado “Little Cervantes”, siendo su logo el rostro del famoso escritor. Con ella me doy a conocer entre mis compatriotas “los kiwis”, acercándoles, sobre todo a los niños la cultura española y así que deseen conocer y hablar la segunda lengua más extendida del mundo. Es mi pequeña contribución a la divulgación de este lindo idioma y a la vez, un guiño de complicidad con el escritor universal y su ciudad natal, Alcalá de Henares.

Por otra parte, con mis ilustraciones sigo esperanzada en poder enseñar aún más y mejor si cabe, las maravillas que el mundo infantil ofrece y enencontrar mi hueco entre los ilustradores infantiles, aunque he de reconocer que algunas de mis ilustraciones han sido reconocidas y premiadas últimamente.

El libro “MY BOOK OF NURSERY RHYMES” fue elegido entre los diez mejores del mundo en 2017.
